This BusinessWeek article may just mean a lot more than you think. The next huge market for the search engines is mobile and while Yahoo has always been the largest portal / email system in Japan, now it looks like Google is poised to take over the mobile market.

Intel gets U.S. nod to build plant in China
I don't know about you, but the last time I checked geopolitics and geobusiness didn't mix. In fact, at least with the current American administration, mixing these two usually results in disaster. Here's a Washington Post story you might want to read. It's on a much smaller scale than the IBM deal, but with a similar outcome; ridding Americans of jobs while producing undesirable, unpredictable results.
